Thames River Yunnan Film Festival

 (Feb-2025)

OBA is delighted to share the success of the 2025 Thames Bank Chinese Yunnan Film Festival, held on 15th February 2025 at the King’s College London. The event brought together an engaged audience of film lovers, students, cultural scholars, and members of the Chinese and UK creative communities for a meaningful exploration of Yunnan’s cinematic stories.

The screenings featured a carefully curated selection of films that highlighted the diversity and evolving identity of Yunnan Province. From sweeping documentaries like China: Beyond the Clouds to the much-anticipated preview of Ao Yang Bai by director Dong Jilan, each film offered a unique window into the region’s traditions, landscapes, and contemporary challenges.

Other standout screenings included:

  • Herbarium of Bazi Collection & Botanical Garden

  • Tea and Horse Trail

  • Shanren: Into the Mountains

  • Tisese: A Documentary on Three Mosuo Women

The success of this event reflects a growing interest in regional Chinese cinema and its power to bridge communities through storytelling.

Tim Yip's Talk @ British Museum

 (coming in Sept-2023)

Embodying his aesthetic concept 'New Orientalism', Tim Yip's work draws upon ancient cultures to reshape thinking about the future. Whether that be in projects such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), the Athens Olympics handover ceremony (2004) or his rendition of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring (2019) with director Yang Liping, the Academy Award-winning multi-threat leaves onlookers awe-struck through his approach to art, costume design, theatre and more.

We enjoyed 50+ festivals and concerts together.

Why don't you have a look at them?
